For Such a Time as This

I turned the television on this morning at 7 to catch the first glimpses of this historic day. Although the election did not go as I planned, it obviously went as God planned. In whatever direction He uses this era, it will be in His grand plan. As I watched the parade from an aerial view, I thought of God watching our lives and this world He created. He sees it as a parade, from the air where He can see the beginning and the end in one grand sweep. As the start of the parade is coming to the end of the parade route, there is still so much of the parade in motion with people cheering, waiting on still more to come. There is so much of this parade to still be lived.

I'm so glad He's still watching what's coming even though He has already seen the end.

I agree with seph, it is quite ironic the Bible study we are doing and what part of the study fell on this very week. That God can turn any heart in the direction He needs is quite humbling.
Proverbs 21:1 says The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. Verse 2 goes on to say...Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts. Ideally God wants us to choose His way over our way. Yet we often make choices that are right in our own eyes. That is the case with a king or president as well as each of us. Only the Lord knows the motives of our heart, and He alone can transform our hearts to beat in accordance with His. I choose to believe the best in our new leader. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders now. I pray He calls on God to be his advisor.

History has been set in motion today. I respect the office of the President of the United States. God calls us to do just that. He has allowed this day. He is in control of this day and the future. He calls us to lift President Obama to Him daily. By those prayers we enable God to work in his life. His desire is for the President to follow the heart of God by a conscious choice. But this I believe, his heart is in God's hand and He will turn it wherever He wishes as easily as a river flows towards it's final destination, to play out the hand and plan of the Almighty, Sovereign God.
In this and Him I am confident.
