I think it's here! I think Fall is finally here! That is what I think I miss the very most about living in this part of Texas, a real Fall. Although SA certainly has more of one than Odessa ever did and not that I know what living in a real Fall is like. But I can only imagine. After visiting Vermont at this very time last year, I now know it's true. Fall IS my most favorite season of the entire year. I prefer it over Winter, Spring or Summer. There is just something special about it.
These are a few of my favorite things...about Fall...
- All the beautiful oranges, reds and browns that are everywhere
- Pumpkins
- Mums
- Decorated front porches
- Hot Cider
- Hot Chocolate
- A fire in the fireplace
- Stepping outside and smelling someones chimney blowing
- Cool, crisp mornings
- A Fall rain
- That special smell in the outside air, especially in the mornings
- Stepping outside to smell it about the time the sun is coming up
- That smell brings a feeling of freshness and newness, it's the same feeling every year, that feeling of the first few days of grade school.
- The smell reminds me of playing on the playground before school starts
- A slower, easier, more carefree time
- Turtlenecks and boots
- Soup in the evening (like tonight)
- Hot oatmeal with brown sugar & butter for breakfast (like this morning)
- Gorgeous leaves falling everywhere with acorns mixed in with them
- Sitting outside around a bonfire or outdoor fireplace telling ghost stories (maybe I can fire mine up soon and we can all sit around it with our gloves on and cider telling old stories!)
- Thanksgiving dinner
- Pumpkin pie with a cold glass of milk
- Apple crisp with a cup of Pumpkin Spice Coffee and cozying in a quilt
- Pumpkin Latte & Pumpkin Cream Cheese muffin from Starbucks
- A cool Fall evening stroll, maybe even with a lantern through the graveyard! (that one's for maggie)
- Fall Festivals (now that takes you back to childhood)
- Coming in the house to a cinnamon spice candle burning
Now these are just a few of my favorite things.

I think fall is the one thing I really miss about living on the East Coast. I grew up with all the fall colors and leaves being raked up just to jump in and crisp morning walks to catch the school bus. I miss the smell of wood smoke and the wonderful warm days of Indian Summer, and the bright clear air of a late September afternoon. I could almost be homesick, if it weren't for the fact that Fall is the harbinger of Winter--and I really don't like that!
I love all your favorite things, too!!
Ahhhh. The fall is finally here.
Okay, I'm homesick...Lets take a trip to the East Coast!
Ahh, I love all your favorites, too. Autumn is my favorite season. What a wonderful list you made. I am just praying that a few colorful leaves will still be on the trees when we get to New York.
I love fall too!
