Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
Mark Twain
That's a quote from the book I just finished reading on my recent road trip. One of three, but this one, my friends, is a must read. If I said the last one I recommended would change your life, this one will rock your world. The book was referenced by Pastor during a sermon, and I picked it up off his desk and took it with me at the last minute.
In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson.
Get it. Read it. All of it. Everyone.
David got this copy at Hastings and had to order it. I'll be glad to loan it out. Who's first?
Here's another little excerpt and sampling of what you will find from cover to cover...
Peter gets a bum rap. Peter is the disciple who denied Christ three times, but he was the only one who got close enough to Jesus to get caught. Peter is the disciple who impulsively cut off Malchus' ear when the lynch mob came to arrest Jesus, but he was the only one who came to Jesus' defense. And he is the disciple who sinks in the Sea of Galilee, but he was also the only disciple who walked on water.
Has that got you hankering for more...
